_{Design Thinking Workshop Batch 2}

Startup Ph Training conducted its second workshop called Design Thinking and Lean Startup Workshop for Founders, Creatives and Techies last June 1st. The event was held at Vensturespace Ph in Mandaluyong City.

The workshop was attended by 25 participants from different sectors — private businesses employees, freelancers, aspiring startup founders, students, and people who wanted to learn Design Thinking.

The workshop made the concept of Design Thinking less intimidating as Carlo P Valencia, Startup Ph Training Founder and Facilitator, showed examples of how big companies like Bank of America and GE Healthcare used Design Thinking in solving problems.

The main objectives of the workshop was to teach the following:

1. How to understand their customers with empathy
2. How to Identify and test assumptions
3. How to prototype and pre-sell an idea before making major investments

The workshop was a dynamic combination of lecture and application. This method of delivery maximized the participants’ experience of conducting the experiments on their own that they can replicate in the future.

The workshop started with a short lecture about Design Thinking and the rest of the afternoon was dedicated to more activities. The participants had the first hand experience how it was to make a persona, design experiments, interview customers, and presell their prototypes.

At the end, participants had more clarity on what they need to do with their startup ideas — and that’s to empathize with their potential customers.

At the end of the workshop, Carlo encouraged participants to bring the worksheets home so they can continue to conduct their experiments. He also encouraged the participants to message him should they have questions about Design Thinking. Participants also received free resources such as the workshop deck and other useful links about Design Thinking.
